Scholar is an independently operated, local-first iPhone app. Every support message is reviewed, and we are happy to help with technical problems, purchases, feedback, or feature requests.
Quick Fixes
If Scholar is not working as expected:
- Close and reopen the app.
- Install the latest version of Scholar from the App Store.
- Restart your iPhone.
- Make sure your device is running iOS 17 or later.
When reporting a problem, include your iPhone model, iOS version, Scholar version, and the steps that caused the issue. Please do not include private notes, school records, or other sensitive information unless it is necessary to explain the problem.
Your Data
Scholar does not require an account and does not currently sync your school data through iCloud or a Scholar-operated server. Your classes, assignments, schedules, study decks, flashcards, notes, and progress are stored locally on your device.
To save a copy of your Scholar data, open Profile, find Your Data, and select Export My Data.
To erase Scholar's locally stored data and return to setup, select Start Fresh. This action cannot be undone. Deleting Scholar from your device may also remove its local data. Scholar generally cannot recover information that has been erased unless it is available through a device backup managed by Apple.
Because Scholar does not create user accounts, there is no Scholar account to delete.
Notifications
Scholar uses local notifications scheduled on your device for assignment and schedule reminders.
If reminders are not appearing:
- Make sure Notifications is enabled in Scholar's Profile settings.
- Open the iPhone Settings app and confirm notifications are allowed for Scholar.
- Check whether a Focus mode is silencing notifications.
- Reopen Scholar after changing notification settings.
Widgets and Live Activities
If a Home Screen widget or Focus Timer Live Activity is not updating:
- Open Scholar once after installing or updating the app.
- Confirm that widgets and Live Activities are allowed for Scholar in iPhone settings.
- Remove and re-add the Home Screen widget if it remains out of date.
- Open Scholar and reset or restart the Focus Timer if a Live Activity appears stuck.
Widget refresh timing is controlled in part by iOS, so updates may not always appear immediately.
Scholar Pro and Purchases
To restore an eligible Scholar Pro purchase, open Profile, select Scholar Pro, and tap Restore Purchase. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account used for the original purchase.
Deleting Scholar or selecting Start Fresh does not cancel an active subscription. You can manage or cancel a subscription through your Apple Account subscription settings.
App Store payments and refund requests are handled by Apple. To request an eligible refund, use Apple's refund-request service.
View the Restore Purchases page for more details.
